Five-door FAW Bestune Pony launched in China at 6,735 USD

The five-door modification of the FAW Bestune Pony (known as Bestune Xiaoma in some markets) was launched in China with a starting price of 44,900 yuan (6,735 USD). This electric hatchback offers four seats and up to 328 km of electric range under CLTC conditions.

The Bestune Pony was previously available only as a three-door hatchback, boasting a body length of just 3,000 mm. This version costs 34,900 – 42,900 yuan (5,235 – 6,435 USD) domestically. According to China EV DataTracker, Bestune handed over 47,929 units of the three-door Pony in China from January to September 2026, down 37.5% Year-Over-Year.

On October 28, Bestune launched the five-door version of the Pony hatchback with an elongated body to broaden the customer base. Its dimensions are 3350/1540/1600 mm with a wheelbase of 2,215 mm. For clarity, the five-door car became 350 mm longer, 30 mm wider, and 30 mm lower than the original Pony. Moreover, its wheelbase was stretched by 262 mm, which is a lot for this class.

The five-door Bestune Pony adopts the same boxy styling with “cute” headlamps and taillights, a small air intake in the front, and fuzzy 13-inch rim covers. This model adopts semi-hidden door handles. The Xiaoma’s ground clearance is 130 mm. Five body shades are available: orange, blue, green, brown, and white.

The car’s interior has four seats. The center console adopts an optional 10.1-inch touchscreen with some rotary controls sitting below. A small 7-inch LCD instrument panel and a gear shifter hide behind a two-spoke steering wheel. An elongated wheelbase resulted in boosted legroom for the rear passengers. The trunk volume was boosted from 81 to 265 liters as standard. With the rear seats folded down, this number could be increased to 1,052 liters.

The Bestune Pony comes standard with a rear-mounted electric motor for 30 kW (40 hp). Two LFP battery options are available: 17 kWh and 27.2 kWh. This urban driver boasts an electric range of 222 – 328 km under CLTC conditions (182 – 269 km WLTP). The Pony can speed up to 103 km/h. The price range of the five-seat version lies between 44,900 and 54,900 yuan (6,735 – 8,230 USD).
