New BYD Qin Plus DM-i sedan launched in China with 220 km of EV range

The new third-gen BYD Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan was launched in China with up to 220 km of EV range. It is available for purchase with a starting price of 79,900 yuan (11,980 USD). This mass-market model offers up to 2,290 km of mixed range.

The third-gen BYD Qin Plus DM-i adopts the brand’s latest design language with sharp headlamps, a trapeze-shaped air intake, traditional door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. It is a part of the optionally available God’s Eye B assisted driving system. It allows a car to drive from address to address on its own. The driver only needs to monitor the process.

Dimensions of the Qin Plus DM-i are 4840/1900/1498 mm with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Its interior adopts a large 12.8-inch screen, six speakers, ambient lighting, and climate control. A gear shifter sits behind a two-spoke steering wheel. The center tunnel has two wireless phone chargers, a block of physical buttons, and a pair of cup holders.

The BYD Qin Plus DM-i is available with nine color options. The interior offers two shades: white and black. The car’s powertrain adopts a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 74 kW (99 hp) paired with an electric motor for 120 kW (161 hp). Two LFP battery options are available: 16.2 and 24.3 kWh. The car’s electric range lies between 140 and 220 km under CLTC conditions. The mixed range reaches 2,290 km, thanks to a 65-liter gas tank and a fuel consumption of 2.58 liters per 100 km with a drained battery.
