New Xiaomi SU7 Ultra hits Nürburgring on Munich plates with revised track aero
An updated Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype has been spotted testing at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife with a redesigned aerodynamic package featuring a large twin-plane rear wing mounted on swan-neck supports, reports Y-Auto.
The undisguised test car carries Munich registration plates (M SU 7650 E). The sighting follows a camouflaged SU7 Ultra spotted testing in China with a large rear wing. Chinese media have reported a possible 2027 arrival for the updated model.
Revised aerodynamics
The new rear wing is the most prominent departure from the production SU7 Ultra, replacing the road car’s fixed carbon-fibre spoiler with two upper-mounted swan-neck pylons and a twin-plane design.
The wing also appears to include a movable section that could support an active drag reduction system (DRS) to cut aerodynamic drag on high-speed straights. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed the mechanism or whether it is functional on this test vehicle.
Other visible changes include a larger front splitter, additional aerodynamic elements at the bumper edges, revised side skirts and louvred vents above the front wheels. The prototype retains a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and yellow brake callipers, while its pale yellow exterior differs from the production model’s Lightning Yellow finish.
Xiaomi has not disclosed whether the prototype features changes to its electric motors, battery, suspension or braking system.
Porsche holds the faster Nürburgring time
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra with Track Package completed the Nordschleife in 7 minutes 4.957 seconds on April 1, 2025, with driver Vincent Radermecker. The Nürburgring lists the car in its electric executive-car category.
On April 15, 2026, a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package and Manthey Kit completed the same circuit in 6 minutes 55.533 seconds, setting a new category benchmark. Its time was 9.424 seconds faster than Xiaomi’s.
The revised prototype’s aerodynamic changes point to continued track-focused development, though Xiaomi has not announced an official target lap time or a new record attempt.
Existing SU7 Ultra specifications
The production SU7 Ultra uses a three-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering 1,138 kW (1,526 hp) and 1,770 Nm of peak torque. Its 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin 2.0 battery pack provides a claimed CLTC range of 630 km (approximately 475–505 km WLTP).
The road car has an official starting price of 529,900 yuan (79,600 USD) in China.
Xiaomi has previously demonstrated a separate pre-research quad-motor powertrain rated at up to 1,510 kW (2,054 hp), along with fully active suspension and 48V electromechanical braking (EMB). However, no confirmation exists that any of these systems are fitted to the Nürburgring test car.
Xiaomi has not announced specifications, pricing or an official launch date for the updated model. The reported 2027 timeline coincides with the brand’s planned entry into European markets, including Germany, though Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the prototype is intended for release in Europe.
