BYD just shared the interior of the Qin Max, a new mid-size sedan. According to unofficial reports, the vehicle is scheduled for a market debut on August 13, with display models expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of July.

  • Plug-in hybrid (DM-i): Four trim levels with a price range of 115,000–145,000 yuan (16,900–21,300 USD).

  • Pure electric (EV): Five trim levels with a price range of 125,000–155,000 yuan (18,400–22,800 USD).

Design and dimensionsThe Qin Max continues the BYD Dynasty design language. The front fascia features a chrome trim strip connecting the headlights, complemented by a three-section air intake. The rear echoes this style with “Chinese knot” inspired full-width LED taillights, which feature a smoked finish and layered light textures. The vehicle measures 4,866 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Inside, the cabin adopts a wrap-around design accented with chrome elements. Key features include a full LCD instrument cluster, a floating centre touchscreen, and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The centre console is equipped with practical amenities such as a wireless smartphone charging pad and dual cup holders. A new “Dawn Purple” interior colour scheme will also be available.

Powertrain and performance

  • Plug-in hybrid: Features a 1.5L engine paired with an electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum power of 74 kW, while the motor provides 175 kW (235 hp). It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

  • Pure electric: Offers two single-motor configurations with maximum power outputs of 120 kW (161 hp) and 240 kW (322 hp). Battery capacities are 52.868 kWh and 64.315 kWh, providing CLTC-rated ranges of 530 km and 630 km, respectively.

Flash chargingThe Qin Max features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology. The system is capable of charging from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes, and 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. In extreme cold conditions of -30°C, the charging time only increases by 3 minutes.
