2027 Honda SUV and Truck Lineup Updates: Less Electric, More Off-Road

But drivers didn’t plug into EV driving as readily as anticipated, so Honda pulled the plug on its efforts. Too bad, because prototypes for its next-generation EVs drove great.

As it recalculates its future approach, Honda keeps its 2027 SUV and truck lineup mostly the same as it was last year, with one exception: more off-road-oriented equipment for the popular Passport. See those changes and everything else new for 2027 here.

2027 Honda HR-V

After receiving a larger touchscreen, wireless charging pad, updated climate control knobs, and fresh styling details for 2026, the Honda HR-V enters 2027 unchanged.

2027 Honda CR-V

Although a refreshed or next-generation CR-V is anticipated to arrive soon, the compact SUV gets no major changes for 2027. Last year, the CR-V got a bigger touchscreen and wireless charging pad as standard equipment. The EX-L trim received a larger gauge cluster display. The optional AWD system was retuned for better traction.

2027 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Look for a big update to the CR-V Hybrid in the next year or two. For 2027, though, it’s just like it was in 2026, when it received changes including a larger touchscreen, wireless charging pad, improved AWD system, and a bigger digital gauge display on certain trims. The off-road-inspired CR-V Hybrid TrailSport was also introduced.

2027 Honda Passport

Just a year after its arrival, the Honda Passport gets notable updates for 2027, all applied to the rugged TrailSport model. It gains new suspension springs and dampers, control arms, stabilizer bars, knuckles, front driveshafts, and a front subframe. These add 1.4 inches of ground clearance for a total of 9.65 inches, while also improving approach, departure, and breakover angles.

Outside, the 2027 Passport TrailSport looks more rugged thanks to amber LED lights integrated into the hood scoop. The lower front bumper is revised, and the fender flares become broader. With the available Blackout package, more black exterior trim is applied.

All TrailSport models now have the TrailWatch 360-degree camera system and a heated steering wheel; these were previously exclusive to the TrailSport Elite trim. Additionally, the Honda Trail Experience app adds real-time vehicle information, video recording, and trail data overlays.

No changes are made to the more street-oriented Passport RTL.

2027 Honda Pilot

Following an update for 2026, which added new styling, features, and refinements, the Pilot three-row SUV is unlikely to see major changes for 2027. The TrailSport model also gains access to the Honda Trail Experience app. Honda has confirmed it’s working on a hybrid powertrain for its large SUVs, but that’s not here yet.

2026 Honda Ridgeline

Production of the Ridgeline ended after 2026. This unibody midsize pickup truck will return in a fully redesigned third generation for 2028 or 2029. It’s anticipated to get tougher styling, more rugged capability, new functionality features, and improved tech. A hybrid powertrain could also be among changes. 2026 Honda Prologue

As it worked to develop its own EVs, Honda licensed General Motors’ electric vehicle platform to create the Prologue. The SUV was just a Chevrolet Blazer EV with different styling, with little connection to customary Honda driving attributes, features, or capabilities.

Only introduced for 2024, the Prologue was canceled after 2026 following slow sales. Furthermore, Honda ceased its own EV efforts as market conditions evolved. It will now focus more on hybrids instead of all-electric vehicles.
