Hyundai to launch Ioniq V in China on September 29, pre-sale price starting from 17,600 USD

Beijing Hyundai has officially announced that the Ioniq V, the inaugural model of its Ioniq in China, is set to hit the Chinese market on September 29. The vehicle, which has already opened for pre-sales, is offered in three configurations with a price range of 119,900 yuan (17,600 USD) to 139,900 yuan (20,600 USD).

Designed under the full leadership of the Hyundai China Design Centre, the Ioniq V is a strategic model tailored specifically for Chinese consumers, with plans to export its design language and concepts to global markets in the future.

Design and dimensions

The Ioniq V is characterised by a fully enclosed front fascia that replaces the traditional grille. The vehicle features split lighting, with a horizontal daytime running light strip positioned above and main headlight units integrated into the front bumper.

The sedan sports a sleek fastback silhouette, with a roofline that slopes gently from the A-pillar to the rear. It is equipped with frameless doors and blacked-out window trim. Customers can choose from eight exterior colours: Cyber Gold, Dimension Purple, Gamma Green, Magnetic Grey, Photon White (solid), Photon White (matte), Flowing Silver, and Night Blade Black.

The vehicle measures 4,900mm in length, 1,890mm in width, and 1,470mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900mm.

Interior and technology

Inside, the cabin features a “Nebula Wrap-around” design. The interior is dominated by a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K central control screen, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip. The infotainment system integrates advanced AI large-language models, including Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao. Additionally, the driver is supported by a “Cyber Eye” head-up display (HUD) system.

For intelligent driving, the Ioniq V utilises the Momenta assisted driving system, enabling high-speed navigation on pilot.

Performance and range

The Ioniq V is powered by a single-motor setup available in two output configurations: 140 kW (188 hp) and 168 kW (225 hp). Depending on the trim, the vehicle is equipped with either a 53.5 kWh or a 66.8 kWh LFP battery provided by CATL. These configurations offer four CLTC-rated pure electric ranges: 520 km (421 km WLTP), 540 km (437 km WLTP), 620 km (502 km WLTP), and 650 km (527 km WLTP).
