What!? Rockets!? Tesla Roadster 2.0 Is Going to Be Out of This World

Editor’s Note: This is a developing story. Check back on the night of Thursday, October 15 for live updates on the Tesla Roadster 2.0 event, and then the following day, Friday, October 16 for even more information.

Back on September 12, Tesla sent out a cryptic post on X.com about a major update on the long-promised Roadster 2.0 set for October 1, complete with a visual showing what appears to be the rear of the vehicle, with some kind of rocket boosters.

On September 24, 2026, at the end of a keynote address for the launch of Tesla Semi, Lars Moravy, vice president of engineering for Tesla, dropped a 9-second video teaser for Roadster:

Screen captures of the video show a familiar white lightbar currently seen on Tesla Cybertruck, Model Y and Y L, and Semi. The “Roadster” name also flashes around the screen in a new blue stylized font.

Bad weather prompted the launch event to move to Thursday, October 15. We wrote up a little piece on what you might see from the event based on rumor and innuendo found all around the web and social media.

This story, however, will be continuously updated with photos and facts about what we see, hear, and experience from the launch event, which is going to be livestreamed on Tesla.com. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 p.m. Eastern time on October 15. Until then, enjoy this gallery of official Tesla Roadster images and check back for updates on what the Tesla that started it all is set to become...
