The 2027 model year represents a period of transition for Tesla’s SUV and truck lineups. Some models carry on with only light changes, while others see bigger shifts in mission, packaging, or availability. There’s also a new addition to the family, and one familiar nameplate that has bowed out. Here’s what to know about Tesla’s SUVs and Cybertruck for 2027.

2027 Tesla Cybertruck

Expect the 2027 Cybertruck to largely carry over unless Tesla announces another round of pricing, equipment, or software changes. The most meaningful recent change is the arrival of the lower-cost Dual Motor AWD version for the 2026 mode year, which keeps all-wheel drive and an EPA-rated 325 miles of range but drops towing capacity to 7,500 pounds and gives up some premium equipment compared with the Premium AWD model.

2027 Tesla Model Y

After a major refresh for the previous model year, the regular 2027 Model Y appears to be mostly carryover. The big change is pricing: Model Y Premium RWD and AWD trims are up $1,000, while the Performance trim rises $500. The base RWD and AWD versions carry over unchanged, and specs and range remain the same.

One notable shift is seating: The standard-wheelbase Model Y is now positioned as a five-seat SUV, after previously offering a small optional third row on certain configurations. For buyers who want three rows—or something truly new in the Model Y family—the distinct long-wheelbase Model Y L is the bigger 2027 news.

2027 Tesla Model Y L

Tesla’s compact SUV comes in a new variant for 2027 with the arrival of the Model Y L, a long-wheelbase, three-row version of the maker’s bestseller. Unlike the old standard-wheelbase Model Y’s tiny optional third row, the Model Y L stretches the body and wheelbase to create a more usable six-seat layout with second-row captain’s chairs.

Tesla lists the U.S.-market Model Y L Premium with dual-motor all-wheel drive, an estimated 325 miles of range, a 4.4-second 0–60-mph time, seating for up to six adults, up to 89 cubic feet of cargo space, and front and second-row touchscreens. Orders are open now, with early models arriving as a pricey Launch Series positioned above the regular Model Y Performance.

Tesla Model X: Discontinued

For 2027 it’s farewell to the Model X, the SUV that helped define the concept of a three-row EV when it arrived for the 2016 model year. At its best, the Model X combined huge acceleration, useful range, flexible seating, and unmistakable falcon-wing doors into a package no rival could quite match.

But those same doors were also part of the problem, joining dated underpinnings, gimmicky controls, uneven luxury-grade materials, and growing competition from newer EV SUVs. Tesla updated the Model X for 2026, but it also confirmed the SUV’s run is ending after the model year, closing the book with a limited Signature Series sendoff.
